EDUC165 Distance Education as characterized is an education n a distance through the use of various modern media.

For me, distance education has both positive and negative effect on us the same is through with any other thing. It always had its good and bad side.

Distance education is a good thing invented and discovered because it helps many people especially those who have hectic schedule. My experience in it is a good one knowing that somewhere all over the world still there are people who pursue education despite of their age; their busy schedule and other things.

Its cons are, first the availability of materials. What if the distant learner has no laptop and was just dedicated to finish the course that’s why he pursues to enter distance education. Another thing is students are separated from each other that is why they are not able to share their ideas, backgrounds and interest. They don’t have the opportunity to interact with each other and with the teachers outside of class and must rely on the technology to bridge the gap that separates them from each other. Budget is another problem in distance education because a person can’t afford it if his budget is insufficient.

Distance education’s advantages are: it does not require commuting meaning you can access it anytime, anywhere at sake; most of your classes can be completed at your convenience; you can gain additional knowledge because of the internet; your technological skills is also trained and you can also work independently. Also, it is affordable for some compare to traditional education.
