Climate
Change is an alarming issue that slowly spreading through the whole earth and
starting to kill the balance of the weather here in our planet. Climate change
is defined as changes over time in the averages and variability of surface
temperature, precipitation, and wind as well as associated changes in Earth’s
atmosphere, oceans and natural water supplies, snow and ice, land surface,
ecosystems, and living organisms (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
[IPCC], 2007b). Abnormalities such as the quick transition of weather in the
country and the immediate change of season occur in every part of the world.
Ice mountain and ice bergs in the northern part of the earth are now melting
and starting to add water in our ocean. For years and years we have heard that
climate change affects the earth but still people are not moving to help save
the planet. As years goes by, climate change starts to destroy the planet. The
question with climate change now is that can we still stop it or at least can
we still do something about it?
It
is important to study the different psychological impacts of the different
calamities brought by climate change because it is a disturbing issue nowadays.
It will be able to determine the psychological impacts of the different
calamities that can be the means to make people understand that we are all at
risk and we must do something about it.
The
past disasters of the different typhoons that hit our country caused by climate
change brought million of lives sacrificed and billions of infrastructures,
agricultural lands, and properties destroyed. We are aware of the risk we will
take once it occurs again yet people were very stubborn and insensitive for
this. They would prefer to stay in their houses rather than to evacuate at
places they will be kept safe. The reason of others is their properties
established might be stolen so they choose to stay. Others will wait for the
situation to get worst than to immediately leave and find a safe place.
For
every year that typhoon is occurring, government and people are aware of it
still thousands, millions, billions of live were sacrificed. This was a
question that needed a further solution as well as the implementation of
solution. Government were just thinking of the prevention not a solution
because if only preventions were implemented, it was just their expectation of
the incoming calamity but we should always remember that no one knows what the
future might bring. Yes, we are aware that there is an incoming typhoon or
calamity but its strength cannot be truly determined even nowadays we have
these hi-tech machines. Still it can change.
It
is better that we are always ready for any calamities that may occur. As others
said, “Expect the unexpected”. With
regards to this problem, we humans are the only reason to be blamed for these
calamities. Because of our selfishness deeds and our abused to the nature we
are now receiving our consequences.
God
gave us this beautiful world. He puts in our hands the responsibility to take
good care of these things he created and given us yet we are the ones who were
destroying it. We are abusive enough to our mother nature and now it’s her turn
to get back what she loss. So for everyone who is reading this right now, come
to think of it? What are things we should do in order for our living is back to
normal just like the way it was when God gave it to us.
As
the saying goes: “Ako ang Simula!”
“BE DISCIPLINED
ENOUGH AND KNOW YOUR RESPONSIBILITY NOT ONLY TO YOURSELF AND TO OTHERS BUT ALSO
TO OUR MOTHER EARTH.”
